Ethnography and resident communities
Lamerd’s population reflects long-standing local families across the Central, Eshkanan, Alamarvdasht, Kheyrgu and Chah Varz districts, together with migration from other parts of Fars, Hormozgan and Bushehr. Bikhai, Achomi and Larestani primarily describe related linguistic and geographic identities rather than separate racial groups. Shia Muslims form the majority, while Ahel has a historic Sunni community. Gulf migration, trade and return migration have also shaped contemporary social life.
